Meet the SportCheer Scotland Board

Lisa Tausney
President

Lisa has over 20 years experience in the allstar cheer and dance industry and is a founding member of SportCheer Scotland.  She also is founder and director of one of Scotland's longest running Allstar programmes, Champion Dance and Cheer. 

 

Lisa has experienced may successes and achieved many milestones in the industry including coach and manager of the first unified Team Scotland alongside Steve Walls, the man behind cheer in Scotland as well as facilitating the beginnings of SportCheer Scotland. Her Allstar team is also the Scottish team to win IASF Dance Worlds in Pom.

​

She was also a Black Medilion Faciltator for ICU and IASF Regional Director.

Jennifer McVerry
Vice President

Jennifer began in the cheer industry as an athlete over 20 years ago and has been a member of her club's coaching team for 18 years. She is a founding member of SportCheer Scotland and has been integral is progressing to development of the association.

 

Her university studies and experience working in Sports Development provide an insight into the governance of sport as well as understanding of the importance of coach and athlete development pathways.

Cara Warnock
Secretary

Cara has been dancing from a young age and took up cheerleading whilst at university in Edinburgh. 

Throughout University, she spent four years on the competitive cheer team and also held the position of Alumni and Kit Secretary. 

She is passionate about the development of cheerleading and can’t wait to see how we can grow and advance the sport in Scotland.

Julie Craig
Treasurer

Julie was a founding member of Glasgow University Cheerleaders (2001) and Glasgow Warriors Cheerleaders (2005), serving as the Treasurer for both teams and competing in Cheer and Dance. After retiring from competitive cheer, Julie moved to London to further her career in business.

​

She returned to Scotland in 2022 and joined Champion Dance and Cheer in the Masters age group while looking for more ways to get involved in cheerleading in Scotland.

Stacey Sinclair
Adaptive Abilities Director

Stacey spent many of her younger and teenage years dancing from ballet, contemporary to cheer and is now a parent of a child in cheerleading and her passion for dancing still remains.

 

She is a Law graduate with many years of experience within the financial sector, including wealth, investment, commercial and markets industry. She has considerable experience working on and chairing various committees within the banks she has worked for. She also leads charity initiatives within the workplace including Neurodiversity Committee and Enable Committee.

​

Through personal and work experience she has helped and supported children and adults with disabilities, ensuring they have the same opportunities as everyone else and she is very grateful to been giving this opportunity with SportCheer Scotland to help provide these opportunities to all athletes who wish to participate in this amazing sport.

Emma Harper
Allstar Director

Emma has been part of the cheerleading community for 25 years including cheering for Dundee ACE tribe, coach for Team Scotland All Girl Elite in 2019 and 20233 as well as judging at various competitions across Scotland.

Gemma Butterly
Development Director

Gemma has been involved in the dance and cheer industry for more than 20 years. While competing, Gemma gained International titles in cheer and dance and represented Scotland at the ICU and IASF World Championships on 7 occasions for both categories. Her wealth of experience means she is in a great position to relate to athlete’s experiences within our sport. 
 

Gemma has coached Allstar cheer and performance cheer both in Scotland and at camps across Europe. She has also judged at events throughout the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Japan and Australia. 

 

Gemma is passionate about the development of cheerleading and dance in Scotland and with her global outlook.  She is thankful to the coaches & to Scotcheer, who have paved the way for her journey in the industry so far, with a special mention to the pioneer of Scottish cheerleading, Steve Walls.

Colette Cheape

Jennifer Park
Student Sport Director

Jennifer has been a dancer for 24 years now with experience in a wide range of styles however my Allstar Cheer and Dance career began in 2014 when she joined Edinburgh University Vixens. She has since then embraced and loved the Allstar world and have been given numerous opportunities and experiences whilst also becoming a part of a fantastic Allstar Programme. 

​

She has represented Team Scotland at the ICU World Championships twice as an athlete and has been a Coach for the junior and youth hip hop teams for 2 years running. She has also played a role in this years teams selection panel and trials. 

 

Outwith Cheer and Dance, her full time job is as Physical Education teacher in Stirling. Her job allows her to not only share her own passion and love for dance and cheerleading but also promote the uptake and interest amongst students and teachers. This year, she was involved in the planning and running of the Scottish Schools Cheerleading Competition where over 400 pupils from across Scotland attended.

​

She looks forward to creating ongoing development opportunities across Scotland for Students from School to University level and grateful to be playing a part in the growth of SportCheer Scotland.

Rochelle Bowie
At-Large Director

Rochelle has been competing since 2007 and has been involved in coaching since 2015, coaching various ages and abilities at school, university and all-star level. She has also been part of team Scotland adaptive abilities pom since the team was formed, attending ICU world's in 2022 and 2023.

 

Rochelle is passionate about growing cheer and dance in Scotland and making it accessible to all, with a particular interest in developing opportunities in schools and at a grassroots level.

Isobel Boyle
Safeguarding Officer

Isobel has been involved in safeguarding children and young people for almost 30 years, working with care experienced young people as well as a childcare provider.

​

Various training courses including Adult and child protection level 3 and Trauma informed have provided Isobel with a wealth of knowledge in protecting the welfare of children and young people. She has also been involved in cheerleading as a 'cheer mum' and class helper for over 20 years.

​

All of these experiences ensure a sound understanding of our sport as well as understanding the needs for protecting our athletes and ensuring the Integrity of our sport.
